The results of empowerment through The Harvest Center in the South Bronx have been profound. Here are just some of them:

  • Children play on streets and in playgrounds once controlled by drug dealers.
  • Of the young men who controlled drug traffic in the community ten years ago, all but two are working jobs, marrying their girlfriends, and learning to be responsible fathers.
  • More than 95% of the students involved in UHM programs have graduated high school on time and proceeded to college. This is a major accomplishment in a community where more than 75% of students drop out of high school.
  • Hundreds of children are reached through UHM programs, where they receive love, hope, and training in truth.
  • Tutoring, literacy training and ESL tutoring are conducted on a weekly basis.
  • Community organizations such as the Police Athletic League and housing project tenants associations invite UHM to minister at their functions. The school district co-sponsored three events with UHM at a junior high school. Dr. Grassano (UHM director) has been invited to speak at high schools for many years.
  • Families are nurtured and encouraged as needs are met. Single mothers are supported and discipled through unique outreach. Men are becoming men of integrity, character, and responsibility. Families are being put back together and strengthened.
  • People are interceding in prayer for their community. They are leading and participating in strategic and holistic evangelism and outreach. Those who have been empowered are empowering others!
