Reaching the World in our City

New York City is a very exciting place, with so much to do and so much to offer. With a metropolitan population of almost 20 million, it is the largest city in the United States, fifth largest in the world. Practically every culture and language are represented in here, making these words very true: If you can reach New York City, you can reach the world.

Detroit has a rich history of industrialization, arts, sports, and diversity, but it has also been torn by racial division and is now in a deep recession. The poorest city in our nation is hungry for hope, and we hold the Answer in our hands.

New York City and Detroit are ripe harvest fields. Team evangelism in these cities has brought hundreds of souls to Christ in the past years. We are reaching into New York City and Detroit to touch the lives of children, youth, families, single-mothers, college students, adults, and unreached people groups with the transforming power of the gospel.

Jesus said, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field" (Matthew 9:38).

Will you be one of those workers in His harvest?

Here are some ways that you can minister with your team:

Creative Arts Ministry: Minister on the streets, in parks and in churches with your drama team, dance group, worship band, or other creative means of communicating hope in Christ!

Street ministry: Do street evangelism, outdoor worship rallies, block parties and street festivals.

Children's ministry: Take the gospel to children in the streets, minister to their families, build relationships with children in parks and playgrounds, tutor, touch kids' lives through exciting and creative methods of evangelism and discipleship.

Youth ministry: Build relationships with inner-city youth; Network with youth ministries and outreaches.

Homeless ministry: Serve lunch in soup kitchens, do one-on-one work with the homeless.

Prayer Evangelism: Conduct prayer stations, intercessory prayer walks, and engage in spiritual warfare in the city.

Park & Playground ministry: Minister to children, youth and adults one-on-one where they congregate -- in the city's parks and playgrounds.

Tract and Bible distribution: Share the printed Good News in subways, parks, commercial centers, tourist areas and other locations in the city.

Network with The Harvest Center: Tutoring, intercessory prayer, men's & ladies outreach, children's ministry, youth ministry, worship and more with the progressive church plant of Harvest Church.

Equipping: Receive challenging training and experience into effective inner-city ministry through Urban Harvest Ministries.

Exposure: Be exposed to established ministries effectively reaching the needs of our city, such as Times Square Church, Bowery Mission, Brooklyn Tabernacle, and Father's Heart.
