People Stories

We have been greatly blessed to witness the transforming power of Christ change many lives in the inner city!

  • God has miraculously delivered people from addictions: One man found Christ after 17 years living homeless and addicted. He now works counseling other men in similar condictions. A woman found freedom after 42 years of heroin addiction. She worships the Lord with two children and grandchildren at The Harvest Center.
  • God has provided a safe-haven: Youth who have lost one or both parents to AIDS, single-mothers in abusive relationships, children in dysfunctional homes -- all have found the God who is a father to the fatherless and brings the orphans into a family!
  • God has healed wounds: Teenagers abused and thrown on the streets have found peace and a spiritual home where their family in Christ will love them unconditionally and empower them toward their destinies. One young lady, abused as a child, thrown on the streets and living in a shelter at 14 years old, has graduated from Bible college and is serving God and others faithfully at The Harvest Center.
  • God has reversed cycles: Men have become men of God. Women walk in dignity. Several young men who sold drugs in the neighborhood are now working and becoming faithful fathers and husbands. Single-mothers have learned to raise their children through godly principles and let Christ be the center of their home.
  • God has raised up vision: Those who once hated their community now intimately know His love for the people around them and are making a difference on the streets.

These are just some of the things God has done in the lives of people, and that is ultimately why Urban Harvest Ministries exists!
